It was recently Amazon Prime day, and in their sale, they had reduced Lifx light bulbs down from £79.99 to around £32. As an owner of 3 bulbs already, it was a deal I couldn’t pass on, I ended up getting the Lifx+ bulb as it was the same price as the standard one. The + basically means that the bulb outputs an infrared light when it’s turned off in order to help night vision camera’s see better, I happen to have a night vision Motorola Hubble camera that I use occasionally so that feature may come in handy one day.
Unfortunately Amazon restricted the purchase to 1 per customer, and I needed 2 for my hallway, since they are on the same light switch, so I will have to keep an eye out for a good deal again.
The bulb was easy to set up as always, just plug it in and turn the lights on, then connect to the bulbs individual Wifi, and the app does the rest. I ended up moving some of my bulbs around, since I had been using a pair of 1st Generation bulbs in my Lounge/Kitchen area, and now I have a pair of Gen 3’s (previously bought Get 3.)
Unfortunately, the light fittings in my hallway use some devil spawn 3 pinned bulb called BC3 or B22d-3, which is a pain in the arse, because if you replace it with a normal 2 pin fitting, it makes it a pain if you ever plan on selling as my law some properties must have 2 of these 3 pin fittings.
Luckily, you can get adapters, which is what I’ll end up getting as soon as some are back in stock.
Overall, happy with my new Lifx+ bulb, new one’s look better smaller, and the set up process just gets easier and easier.
